StarCraft II: Buy 3, Get 1
October 13th 2008 05:56
Starcraft, one of the most fanatically played games in the history of gaming, and the title that almost brought an entire Asian nation to its knees, has incurred the fury of its legions of fans through the developers announcement that the title will in fact be released in three seperate parts.
The announcement, made by lead producer Chris Sigaty during this years BlizzCon, gave the details about how the game (like all the games they had ever made) was created to be huge, then whittled down to make the finely honed product that they hope we will know and love. This of course begs a question as to whether or not the two following titles in the trilogy will contain all the crap offcuts of the first.
In a move that most developers seem to be taking (lets call it the "Make all the Lord Of The Rings Movies At Once Then Release Them Painfully Seperately" symdrome), there will be features already developed that will be cut from the first title, only to be included in the latter.
These include the need to own all three titles to have multiplayer access to all of the unit types.
Pricing is yet to be found, but it's sounding a little like Activision and Blizzard are setting a precedent for future products.
