Silicon Knights Less Human, 26 Staff Cut
October 7th 2008 02:57
Recently, news that a development studio has laid off workers ends with said developer ending up looking for a new sugar daddy, but spokeswoman Susan Lusty Of Silicon Knights assures us that their culling season is only due to the traditional cycle all developers go through after the launch of a title.
Too Human, which has divided more people than any of the larger oceans, recently hit shelves. Lusty writes that “teams are lean and mean in the beginning, grow toward the end of the project, and then whittle down once the project is finished.”
For those 26 though, not all is lost. “These 26 individuals are hard-working and valued team members that we hope to bring back as we ramp up on our future projects.” reassures Lusty.
And perhaps this is all there is to the story. Too Human has ended up in 330,000 homes since its August 19 launch. Not spectacular for a game allegedly in production for ten years, but enough to keep them afloat until the next project.
You can understand how people may be nervous though. Cases such as the Ensemble closure and the 100 staff who were asked to leave Radical recently would make any one wonder.
Thanks to The Standard for the details.
