Rockstar Games present - L.A Noire by Team Bondi
June 12th 2008 05:04
Team Bondi, the up and coming development studio based in Sydney Australia are working on a new title to be published through the indstry powerhouse Rockstar.
Team Bondi are an independant, home grown operation. They have quite a pedigree, having been founded by Brendan McNamara, the former Director of Development for Sony Computer Entertainment’s Team Soho Studio in London. Brendan is recognised as the writing and developing brainbox behind the multi million selling hit 'The Getaway', which explains the otherwise unlikely sounding partnership with Rockstar.
A release date is yet to be decided although Rockstar have confirmed that the title won't be released before November 2008. Information is a little scarce for a title that has been in development since mid 2006, but the trailer looks extremely promising and the setting one that is sure to bring out the Tex Murphy fan buried in all of us. Yes, even those that don't know he is. One thing we do know though is that it's slated for release exclusively on the PS3, a huge surprise to everyone involved considering the staff that have recently been hired and advertised for (just check out their ads on www.seek.com.au)
Team Bondi and Rockstar describe L.A Noire as "an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940’s.
L.A. Noire blends action, detection and complex storytelling and draws players into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders. Set in a perfectly recreated Los Angeles before freeways, with a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, L.A. Noire will truly blend cinema and gaming."
The game promises to be a gritty sepia dripping adult first person adventure in a sandbox enviornment, which new facial feature technologies being developed to allow you to read the expressions on characters faces. This will allow you to determine if they are on the straight and narrow or a dirty, stinking, lyin' rat.
Leaked reports and rumours indicate that the development has been on and off the rails, with talk of resignations, polarized opinion of the playablility of the detective subgame and funding having been pulled by Sony. Little has been confirmed although nobody is suggesting any terminal trouble.
