PSP 2001 - PSP 3000 Comparison

August 22nd 2008 04:00
psp 3000 screen

Kotaku have tracked down a comparison held between the PSP 2001 and PSP 3000. Now the original site was in a foreign language (my ignorance narrows it down to Taiwanese or Klingon) so the information will be presented here in pictures. And that's all we need really, isn't it? The feature list for the new version is a little thin.

The above photo I believe shows the screens anti-glare ability... Yup, the 3000 is the less glary. Below is the update that will make sure you take the correct one out with you, the expansion and chroming of the ring on the back.

And now for the case makeover you were waiting for...

Why can't there be 2 anologue sticks? It would be so much easier for FPS on the PSP.

I think it's a little too late to add a 2nd stick now...
A 2nd stick wouldn't be compatible with old games.
New games wouldn't be compatible with old 1 stick PSPs.

simple solution, just map the 2nd analog stick to triangle, square, circle and x. (i.e. when you hit up on the right analog sticker your actually hitting triangle, and when you hit upper right your technically hitting triangle, and circle).

Aye, but, that still wouldn't be a 2nd stick.
That would just be the face buttons...
You wouldn't get force feedback with that setup either.

The PS1 released with NO analog sticks, yet ended up with two analog sticks a few years later.

The only problem is, you can simply buy multiple controllers. While for the PSP, you have to buy a totally new system.

Seeing as many people are always upgrading their PSP's to a new SKU, it shouldn't be THAT much of a problem.

Why is it that the only games americans care about are first person shooters? You cant build a system specifically for one genre. And do you realize how uncomfortable another analogue stick would be? It'd be so cramped and tightly fit in on the other side, it's be really awkward and you'd probably drop the psp a lot trying to use it.
