Gamer Chip - by Craig Hill

Two New Xbox Consoles Coming In 2009?

July 10th 2008 03:34
new xbox in 2009

Microsoft will release a new highly updated version of the Xbox console, complete with 1080P and bulk HDD space by 2009... If all of the rumours and facts add up. We are pretty sure that there will be a slim 360, but will that just be the first step?

The current speculation surrounding the price of the 360 and the 120GB HDD is a common occurrence at this stage of a products life cycle. Also, knowing what we do about the time the original Xbox stayed with us (around four years) and the current Valhalla component development and it is fair to say that there is only a year left where the current 360 is the only version available.

In a world where the blurry line between story and story telling become fact you would see this future (and doesn't it make the gaming world drool?) :

Mid 2008 The 360 drops in price to just outside of the Wii.

Mid 2008 Microsoft announce a motion sensitive controller.

Late 2008 EA and other developers who have already begun developing for the Wii start producing cross platform titles for the 360 and Wii.

Early 2009 Sony buys both Microsoft and Nintendo to combat these new developments (ha, just kidding!).

Mid 2009 The new Xbox is announced. This will incorporate the new Valhalla board (which is genuinely in development now) which will have a single chip that combines both the processor and the graphics chip on a single device, allowing them to get rid of the unsightly brick power pack and fan, creating a silent and slim machine. The new console also features 1080P resolution and massive HDD to store downloadable content, installed games and media.
Xbox360 stays in much the same way the original PS2 did but in a new slimline form, continuing to sell for years ahead as an entry level Xbox.

Later 2009 New Xbox console is released.

Sometime 2052 Consoles are replaced as gaming becomes completely congnitive. Mankind, through a lack of physical movement and interaction, is easily enslaved by by genetically modified monkeys.

We will have more information after E3, which is building to be one of the most interesting and influential in memory.
