Never Fear Metal Gear, Kojima Is Here... Sort Of

You may have thought that it was just those movie guys that became typecast, but it seems the same fate befalls anyone who is successful. And although it may tear out a small part of Hideo Kojima's soul each day, it could be good news for fans of the Metal Gear series.
Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear franchise, has spoken of his desire to explore new ideas outside of his best known work. But he feels that like famed Japanese anime director Hayao Miyazaki, "It's like when [he] says he is not going to do more [movies], and then always ends up doing [them]. I think I am kind of in a similar situation." Kojima added, "I have ideas other than Metal Gear, and I want to go on to make other new games, but for political, business or technology reasons, there is always a time when I have to return."
Kojima is still looking for a way to remove himself from the series though, saying "I would like to pass on the Metal Gear series to younger staff members, and then go on to produce the title, and not be so attached to it." So expect something new from the next installment of Metal Gear - and if Kojima has his way, something completely new from him.
