MMO's To Be Made For PS3

Sony have looked into the crystal ball and predicted that MMOs will be a part of the PS3 future. The plan is to restructure the Playstation division and SOE, moving them more into alignment.
John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, realises that the PC and even the 360 have already taken huge leaps into what is the cash cow of gaming.
Smedley says "eight years of experience running an online service" as a major asset they will be able to provide. He believes "retail is exactly the kind of driver" needed for PS3 MMOs and SOE will provide an additional boost in the form of a promise: "The next round of MMOs are made to run on both the PC and PlayStation 3."
It could be a while before we actually play any MMOs on the PS3. Although Smedley claims there is already an "online playerbase", he goes as far to say that the PSN is "a significant and robust network ".
The potential is there. The PS3 hardware leaves gamers salivating at the possibilites, yet it would be a stretch to think that anything solid will come from this vision in the near future. The infrastructure is already in place for the PC and 360 and most observers would aknowledge that the PS3 still has a way to come in its game matching and voice chat functionality to win over a stubburn gaming community.
It can only mean good things for gamers, so we will be keeping our fingers crossed and eyes open for further developments.
