Nintendo DS vs DSi

What we need is a comprehensive summary of everything that the new Nintendo DSi will be, can be and yearns to become. Thanks to 1up, we have exacly that.

The lowdown includes the details on the extra camera, giving the all seeing DSi two.
Size wise, the Nintendo guys have shrunk the form factor, yet somehow squeezed in larger screens, taking the twin screens out to a 3.25 inch girth. While your busy admiring the looks and the looking at you the DSi will do, you can also now listen to your MP3 collection. And when you find that web browsing is also now included, you have a nifty unit that can download games and other content through you Wii points.

On the flipside, they may have shrunk the kid, but it means that the Gameboy Advance slot has had to fall off to accommodate. Be assured though that there're a high likelyhood that those games will appear through the store to download though. Ahh, nothing like buying the same game multiple times across all your platforms.

Available some time well into 2009, the much improved handheld sounds as though it will carry a pricetag somewhere in the vicinity of US$180. That's about US$50 more than the current model. I guess that's the price of progress... Fifty bucks.

For those that rather the feature length over the readers digest version, the full story can be found at 1up

Nintendo are bound to be the first company to develop a fully working tri-corder, no doubt.
The new DS, dubbed DSi, includes a host of new functions, but according to Doublesix Games' studio head James Brooksby, the "the most appealing aspect" is the capability to download content.

Brooksby went as far to say that it makes the platform much more attractive for developers, giving a broader scope for innovative game development.

"I always like a new or enhanced platform launch and this one looks good," he said. "The most appealing aspect for Doublesix is the downloading of games direct to the platform using Nintendo Points. Our focus is on digital distribution so this gives us another great platform to put some really innovative and fun games on."

The Kuju owned studio focuses entirely on digital downloads for home consoles and PC, and is currently working on South Park for Xbox Live Arcade and Burn Zombie Burn! for the PlayStation Network and PC.

We shall have to see how the memory issue might be addressed along with the costing... Ape armour anyone?

gizmondo

Tired of your PSP? (Probably not, sales have lifted considerably recently.)
Bored of your DS? (Well actually, there are a stack of new games, home brews and peripherals coming out to add life to the classic handheld.)

Well then, whatever. Who asked you anyway. For the rest of us there is the new improved Gizmondo 2, now confirmed by Mediapower boss Rich Jenkins, who has shown off the (unpowered) system and has assured that it will be available throughout Europe by Christmas.
Jenkins also led slip that a Chinese manufacturer had been sewn up to produce the units to meet the expected demand, so there should be plenty available (hopefully not for too long after launch...)

If you are interested in a handheld console powered by a new nVidia chipset, this could be for you - at a price. The original cost US$99 (rrp) which will be increased for the latest version. But with the power to run Windows games through the Windows CE 6.0 operating system, there should be plenty of gaming goodness available.

Kotaku have tracked down a comparison held between the PSP 2001 and PSP 3000. Now the original site was in a foreign language (my ignorance narrows it down to Taiwanese or Klingon) so the information will be presented here in pictures. And that's all we need really, isn't it? The feature list for the new version is a little thin
