Handheld Gaming To Be Bigger Than Console: Enterbrain
July 23rd 2008 07:11
Enterbrain, the most respected publisher and foremost authority on market trends in Japan, has stated that handheld gaming will replace consoles as the number one platform for gaming in the future.
Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Enterbrain, stated that "Compared to console gaming, where you have to sit in front of the TV for a long time, handheld gaming is more suitable for today’s busy lifestyle. Handheld gaming was only a supporting player in the past, but I expect it to take the main role in the future gaming world."
So in the view of the foremost marketing mind in Japan we will be more inclined to play the latest releases on a portable device rather than at home... With our big screens... and our surround sound... and beer. maybe this is why western games have never quite taken off in Japan, I think we may have different opinions on what is a great gaming experience.
