Update - Fallout 3 Not Available in Australia

June 10th 2008 01:32
Fallout 3

Before you sell an infrequently used organ to finance the purchase, the exciting announcement made by Amazon.com that they would be supplying "Fallout 3: Exclusive Survival Edition" turns out to be only for the American market. Due to shipping policies set in place by the online retail giant, no versions of the limited number release will be available to the enthusiastic Fallout fanbase in Australia.

Fallout 3
The Survival Edition will host a fanboy dream - a life size Pip-boy, cunningly converted from rad meter and all round post-apocalyptic survival tool to mild mannered clock. As with the other editions it includes:
Vault Boy collectors item direct from Vault-Tec,
The Art of Fallout 3 hardcover book of exclusive concept art and commentary,
Special DVD The Making of Fallout 3 included for a behind the scenes look at the creative team,
Includes fully customized metal Vault-Tec lunch box.

UPDATE: I am speechless. Due to the drug content within Fallout 3, the Australian classifications board has banned the title from our shores. I wish I could add more detail, but I am completely and utterly gutted by the news and can't bring myself to write any more on the subject. Let's hope sanity prevails and something is done soon about the ridiculous situation that doesn't allow adult gaming content into the country.

I dunno if I need all that other stuff - I'd be happy just to play the new game. Any word on the requirements?

There is no official word yet, but from the articles i've read this will be very similar to Oblivion, using the same engine and generally being a re-skinned Oblivion with location based combat and upgradable weapons to replace magic. Direct x10 hsa been mentioned but so far development looks to be focused on version 9. So if you're PC can handle Oblivion you should be sweet to play what is sure to a classic!

Maybe you've heard by now, but this game won't be available here in August. The OFLC has refused it classification, which seems to be a growing trend in this country that's become a constant thorn in my side. I'll be putting up a blog shortly that addresses the issue of censorship and videogames in Australia.

Yeah, and i'm shattered. Apparently importing is going to be an issue as well... That's planted a seed that could create a torrentential problem if you know what I mean...
