Epics Mike Capps Says GoW PC Reviews Are BS
August 11th 2008 01:26
Mike Capps, head of Epic, has given his opinion of the reviews that Gear Of War for the PC has received. Capps sounds like a fan of nutshells, wrapping his thoughts up quite distinctly inside one. In a video interview, Capps explains ,"because what we did was take a great game, Gears of War 1 for Xbox 360, made it run at higher resolutions and added three new hours of really good gameplay and it got lower reviews. I think that’s bullshit, and I don’t understand it. I can’t figure out what it is."
Gamers with some experience on both systems have thrown up a few good reasons as to why this might be the case, such as the patching issues and Windows Live game matching service. It does beg the question though - do PC gamers rate games differently than console gamers? Short answer: No. Comparing some of the bigger and more recent cross platform titles via their Metacritic scores found that there were low single digit percentage differences between the two versions. Mass Effect, Lego: Indiana Jones, Penny Arcade, and Kung Fu Panda all had a difference of no more than three percent. Sorry Capps, there's no solution there either.
