Epic Hitting The "Upper End" Of What The Xbox 360 Can Do
September 2nd 2008 23:08
It looks as though Epic are a lot further down the trail to having optimised the Xbox 360 to it's limits than they would have expected.
Rod Fergusson from Epic has told Gamasutra that they are hitting the "upper end" of what the Xbox 360 can do, and that the gaming community has another two years until we notice that game development has topped out. Fergusson believes that the developers have "room to grow" on titles in production over the next two years, but it sounds as though after that the Gears Of War team will have done as much as they can with the console.
This is a little different from the Xbox and PS2 story, where we were seeing games improving right up until new models arrived. It also makes the prediction of another ten years for the current generation of consoles sound a little unlikely.
