Dead Space Coming To The Wii? (LINK)

Rumour: The third party support for the Wii has been less than exciting so far, but with the development of the WiiMotion Plus, companies such as EA are taking a real interest in the possibility of expanding the Wii appeal to core gamers. The title that has been bandied around to do such a thing? Dead Space.
Sure, this was perhaps a throw away example used by John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, but you know when someone this high up makes a comment, it is rarely made without considering the possibilities. In an E3 interview, Riccitiello stated, "look at Dead Space and imagine playing that game with a wand and a Nunchuk. If they improve the precision, then you could have a good experience. There is no doubt that Wii Speak will appeal to a certain group of people. I thought what was nice is that they created an opportunity for third parties to be more successful." Looking at the gameplay videos it is easy to see that Riccitiello is right. Cutting off the limbs of various creatures would be a blast with the Wiimote.
EA want balance between the three consoles, and currently they have tanked with the Wii. It sounds as if Riccitiello wants to appeal to the gamers they know how to make games for - the core gamers. And one title that would be sure to draw such a crowd would be the space horror, alien dismembering, gore splatterfest that is Dead Space. And surely if Bioshock can be a success on a new platform a year after its original release, Dead Space could do the same on the Wii.
