360 Will Outsell PS3 Over Their Lifetime

Don Mattrick, a senior vice president at Microsoft's entertainment and device division has stated that the Xbox 360 will sell better than the PS3 over the lifetime of the machines.
This bold statement comes off the back of Microsoft's successful E3 press event and id based heavily on the success of exclusive franchises such as Gears Of War. At its E3 news conference Monday, Microsoft said "Gear of War 2," the sequel to its blockbuster science-fiction shooter game, will be released on Nov. 7, indicating that it will be the most successful title over the critial holiday period.
Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai said such comparisons make little sense since Sony expects the PS3 to be around long after the Xbox 360 has disappeared.
"The PS3 is designed to be a product with a 10-year life cycle, while other companies' products tend to disappear in four, five years (after launch)," Hirai said.
"The PS2 has sold more than 130 million units in nine years and is still going strong. Where is Xbox now, or GameCube," he said, referring, respectively, to Microsoft and Nintendo's previous generation of game consoles.
